Singing

at Calvary Chapel Anaheim Hills (Maranatha[O Lord, come]! 1 Cor 16:22b Music)

As we sing and worship together, we should keep a few things in mind as follows:

First, sing with understanding. While this may at times be difficult, especially with a favorite melody, it is the standard we desire to achieve. To sing with understanding requires thinking about the content of the song, not just reciting the lyrics by rote.

Second, sing from the heart. No matter how familiar the tune, sing as though you were hearing and singing the song for the first time. Then every song we sing will be a new song, a fresh song of praise from our hearts.

Third, sing unto the Lord. Let Him be the center of your focus as you direct your praise and worship to Him.

Finally, hymns & spiritual songs at Calvary Chapel are for the congregation to sing together. Singing is not a spectator sport, so if you are not familiar with the tune, read the words which are rich with meaning and sound doctrine, or just hum along and be lifted with the voice of the congregation and instruments as we sing to the Lord.

Now may the Lord Jesus Christ bless your life with a fresh song as we join with one voice and with our Savior in joyous songs of praise!

"The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty! And He will joy over thee with singing"(Zephaniah 3:17).

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord" (Colossians 3:16).
